"A Long Island woman found living in squalor with her three children was under investigation Thursday after a neighbor made a call to the children's father last week, worried about the children's well-being. That's because inside the home police were stunned to find hundreds of bottles of urine, feces, soiled clothes, a dead cat, piles of garbage and used toilet tissue scattered everywhere.It was the same scene of filth that greeted 42-year-old Raymond Young Jr., the children's estranged father, who is now fighting for custody of his three daughters that he says he hasn't seen in six years."Urine in bottles, no plumbing, no toilet," Young told CBS 2.

"There was just feces all over, [it's the] most horrible situation you could ever imagine."On Thursday morning a very sensitive proceeding was going on in a Suffolk County courtroom where the fate of Young's daughters, who were supposedly under the supervision of a Suffolk County Law Guardian, was being discussed."We have everybody that we can muster up trying to make sure they are safe. We have the police involved and my lawyers, they are back there with the judge," Young said.Young compared the living conditions of his daughters, ages 10, 12, and 14, to a war camp, calling them "prisoners." He used to live in the Nevada Street home in Lindenhurst with his wife, Deborah. But during their bitter six year separation, he says he had not seen the girls or their filthy and unhealthy living conditions."We had our issues, but nothing to this extreme. Maybe something happened, she got sick or mental," Young said.

When a neighbor called him to alert him to what type of home the girls were living in, he says he broke in through a back window and discovered the disgusting scene inside. "I couldn't even hold my breath, I had to run out," he said.Friends of the three girls say they always suspected something was wrong, but had no idea the girls lived like this. "We used to say there were in the witness protection program, just joking around, but we never thought the mother had anything wrong with her. We just thought she was overprotective," Aimee Wagner said.Raymond Young now hopes the children will be placed under his custody, but for now the children are still with their mother, upstate at her parents' house.(SOURCE WCBSTV.COM)

"Sheboygan police arrested a woman after she allegedly left her two children in a freezing car for 20 minutes while she went tanning.

The 27-year-old woman was arrested after two people spotted the children, ages 23 months and 10 years, in the car, the police department said in a news release. The vehicle was locked but not running.

Officers responding to the scene Wednesday evening were approached by the children's parents. The father met the mother at the tanning salon and was arguing with her about why the children were in the car, police said.

The children were dressed warmly, but they had "goose bumps" from the cold, the release said. They did not require medical attention.

The temperature at the time was 12 degrees, with a wind chill index of about minus 2 degrees.

The woman could be charged Friday with two counts of misdemeanor child neglect, police said.

"She said she was going on vacation and felt that the tanning was a priority," Lt. Jeff Johnston said Friday."

"Michelle Manhart , an Air Force drill sergeant who posed nude for Playboy magazine has been removed from active duty, she and the Air Force stated Wednesday. Michelle Manhart, who appeared in a spread in Playboy’s February issue, said she got word Friday that she was removed from “extended active duty” and was also told that she was demoted from staff sergeant to senior airman. Whether that amounts to an honorable discharge, as Michelle Manhart also says, is unclear.
“I’m disappointed in our system,” Manhart told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “They went too far with it.”
Michelle Manhart said that she was reverted to her Air National Guard status and that she submitted a “resignation” to the Guard, which she said is pending. Manhart was a member of the Iowa Air National Guard before going on extended active duty.
Oscar Balladares, a spokesman for Lackland Air Force Base, confirmed that Michelle Manhart was removed from extended active duty Friday but said Lackland did not discharge her.
“She was removed from active duty status, and thus reverted to National Guard status,” Balladares said. “It is not up to the Air Force - it is not our jurisdiction to discharge her.”
Lt. Col. Greg Hapgood, a spokesman for the Iowa National Guard, said that because the Guard did not have “documentation of her separation” from the Air Force, it did not have her on duty status.

During the 7:00pm showing at the six-theater multiplex, a white sport utility vehicle smashed through a wall of the theater while the audience was watching the movie. Police said the accident happened about 7:45pm. Fortunately, nobody was hurt, even though the SUV came inches from some moviegoer heads. In Brazil, a baby born in January 2005 in the city of Salvador weighed 16 pounds, 11 ounces at birth. According to Guinness World Records, the heaviest baby born to a healthy mother was a boy weighing 22 pounds, 8 ounces, born in Aversa, Italy, in September 1955.

RABBIT USED TO CAPTURE CAT EATING DOGS

These are some badass dogs eating cats. Those cats must have done something real awful to make those dogs this mad.

Residents in Sanford are concerned about their pets' safety after about 60 cats were found dead in recent months.

It was believed that wild dogs were to blame for the deaths, but Local 6 News reported that domesticated dogs may be responsible for the killings.

City officials said the dogs are not looking for food but want something live to chase.

"They pulled the nails out. These are mostly dog prints (and) dog teeth marks," Wanda Chandler, whose cat was recently killed, said, pointing to her pet rabbit's cage.

Chandler said her rabbit may be used as live bait in a supervised scheme to catch the attacking animals.

"It's just an unprecedented situation, and it needs an unprecedented resolution at this point," Chandler said.

Animal control has set up traps over a 10-mile radius but none of the dogs has been captured.

"To have cats stay indoors is really the safest place to have a cat. It's also the safest place to have your dog," Animal Services Director Mike Wittmer said.

"First of all, some cats don't want to be inside. And if they're used to being outside cats, they're not going to be happy inside, and they can really create problems," Chandler said. "No. 2, if we don't have some cats -- we have some rodents -- we had mice and rats before we had our able-bodied cat outside."
